An Unfinished version of the Cartouche, The Cartouche Oak Panel is defined by its strong central geometry and carefully framed composition. Four angled sections converge precisely at the centre, creating a subtle star-like form that feels structured, intentional, and quietly commanding. The surrounding squared elements act as visual anchors, giving the design a sense of order and permanence.
Finished in a clear oil, the brushed surface exposes the open grain of the oak, allowing the natural ridges, lines, and movement of the timber to be felt as much as seen. The brushing softens the surface while enhancing contrast between early and late growth, giving the panel a dry, architectural texture rather than a polished sheen.
Bevelled edges sharpen every transition between elements, defining the geometry without harshness and allowing each section to read clearly once installed as part of a full floor. This panel rewards close inspection — the direction of grain, the meeting of angles, and the balance between light and shadow all shift subtly as the room changes.
