Sanding then Hard Wax Oil finish

The floors in this hallway and room had been laid some thirty to forty years previously, the installation consisting of boards nailed directly to the beams.

The installation had been done properly, but varnish had been used to seal the wood, and the floor was looking a little dull and uneven in places.

What we did:

As well as sanding the floors, we sealed gaps in the wood using dust from the sander bag mixed with our preferred wood filler. We then finished the floor with clear hard wax oil.

Total time and people involved:

Two people, three days: two to sand, one to oil the floor.
